In addition, he serves as a mentor to the young people who are on the scholarship program. He meets with everyone weekly and he helps with any issues they may have at school or at home. He also periodically visits the schools that the children attend to check on their performance.

The Navtek Foundation was registered as a Florida 501(c)3 domestic non-profit organization in October 2014 by Miranda and Navin. The specific purpose was to provide educational material and related activities to children in Guyana. We focused specifically in the area of St Lawrence, East Bank Essequibo because this is the area in which Navin grew up, all the way until he migrated to the United States in his early 20's.

In the beginning of the foundation, we established a fully functional library for the primary school in St Lawrence, where none existed. In the years that followed, we provided hundreds of storybooks to the library as well as hundreds more to other sparsely populated villages and schools along the Essequibo river. Subsequently, we acquired some land and built a playfield area adjacent to the local primary school, providing a safe and appropriate place for children to play. Additionally, we established a secondary school scholarship program which essentially provides financial assistance and mentorship to 2 children per year to attend a 5-year high school. The scholarship provides financial assistance on a needs basis as well as the invaluable opportunity for mentorship.
As the political and economic situation in Guyana continues to improve, The Navtek Foundation is actively identifying other opportunities for assistance in areas where help is most needed. Please consider joining with us as we look forward to the next decade of service to humanity.
